THREE FRESHMEN QUALIFY FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROBOTICS TOURNAMENT IN INSTANBUL
Kjersti Chippindale, Emma Filar, and Violet Replicon are Team Antipodes. By taking 2nd place in robot performance, and 3rd place overall at the Northern California Championships this January, they became one of only six (out of 8,152) US teams selected to compete in the Open European FLL Robotics Championships in Instanbul, Turkey, April 22-24. In order to compete at the State Championships, the girls had to win their qualifying tournament at Santa Clara University in November, and take third at the Sacramento Regional Tournament in December.
They improved their robot design and performance between each tournament, culminating in a perfect 400-point run at the Northern California Championships. The girls also scored well with their magnetic levitating train model, teamwork, and robot designs. Their website, www.theOneRobot.com is filled with videos of their robot in action, slideshows from their tournaments, details of their robot design, and engineering notes documenting their robot’s development.
If you have an interest in joining their team next year, or would like to become a much needed donor (every $10 helps) or corporate sponsor of their trip next month, please don’t hesitate to contact us at www.theOneRobot.com or call 415-365-3527.

RECENT CHANGES TO 2009-10 SCHOOL YEAR

The last day of this school year will be Friday, May, 29, 1010. While this will have little impact on most of the activities already planned, it will impact the date of graduation.
